Introduction:

The Faculty of Engineering, Science and Technology at The Maldives National University wishes to hire one (1) energetic, self-motivated, and enthusiastic Research Assistant for the project on “Development of a Coastal Surveillance Airship to Monitor and Control the EEZ”.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct a literature review on optimal design of wing structures for UAV.
• Study the requirements of wing design for long-endurance UAV for Maldivian environment.
• Study the construction and prototyping of lightweight air foil suitable for high-altitude and long-endurance applications
• Design variety of airfoil structures in software, simulate and select few optimal design to prototype.
• Prototype the selected airfoil design from the software simulations for testing in the wind tunnels.
• Study the requirements of a wind tunnel for airfoil testing.
• Provide the required components a long with the parameters required to prototype the wind tunnel.

Deliverables:

• An analysis and evaluation of wing designs for UAV suitable for Maldivian environment.
• A detailed requirements with components required to prototype of a wind tunnel to test airfoil.
• A prototype of an optimal air foil design for a long-endurance and high-altitude UAV suitable for Maldivian environment.

Required qualifications:

• Diploma in relevant field or student enrolled in Diploma or Degree program.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Technical report writing skills in English.
• Basic computing skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.

Added advantages:

• Degree in Engineering/Electrical/Electronic/Computer Science or related field.
• Degree in Aeronautics/Aerodynamics or related field.
• Experience in hardware design.
