Announcement

Professional Position under the Mariculture Research and Development Programme

The Marine Research Centre (MRC) was founded in 1984 as the research arm of the Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture (MoFA). The Mariculture Research and Development Programme (MRDP) is one of the core areas of MRC’s work, focusing primarily on developing hatchery as well as grow out technology of selected species, applicable to Maldivian environments. Focus species include groupers and sandfish. A priority project on the hatchery production of milkfish for use as bait for the local pole-and-line tuna fishery has recently been initiated. This project involves the establishment of a backyard milkfish hatchery on the Island of Maakoa, Lhaviyani Atoll, and mass production of bait-sized milkfish in a multi-species hatchery planned in the southern atolls. We are seeking dynamic, self-motivated and capable individuals to join our team to help make our milkfish production project a success.
