Job Description

1. Customer Service & Client Interaction

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for applicants throughout the credit evaluation process, providing timely updates and setting clear expectations.
  • Conduct detailed interviews with applicants to assess financial eligibility, the feasibility of financing, and the suitability of the loan product.
  • Perform field visits to clients, their businesses, and property sites to verify income sources, assess the quality of the collateral, and validate information provided in the application.
  • Counsel clients on policies, restrictions, and all necessary documentation as per HDFC credit underwriting guidelines.

2. Credit Evaluation & Underwriting

  • Perform thorough analysis of financial statements, credit reports (CRIB), bank statements, and other documents to determine applicant creditworthiness and calculate key ratios.
  • Prepare comprehensive Credit Assessment Reports (CARs) that include a summary of the application, financial analysis, risk assessment (including property and borrower risks), and a clear recommendation for approval/decline.
  • Prepare and provide formal credit opinions for existing customers to other financial institutions upon request.
  • Evaluate the legal and technical viability of the property offered as collateral by coordinating with the Legal and Technical departments.
  • Present complete and accurate credit files to the Credit Committee, providing clarifications and supporting the decision-making process.
  • Facilitate precise adjustments to existing loan facilities in coordination with the recovery department, ensuring alignment with each customer’s evaluated circumstances.

3. Monitoring & Reporting

  • Proactively monitor the assigned loan portfolio, with a specific focus on high-risk accounts and early-stage delinquencies.
  • Initiate communication with borrowers for monthly collection of outstanding dues, sending reminders, and counseling them on regularization.
  • Identify accounts showing signs of potential stress and escalate them to senior management with preliminary recommendations.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports for the Collections and Recovery departments for severely delinquent accounts.
  • Prepare Grace Reports to provide timely updates on loan applications and evaluations to the team leader, Manager, and HOD.
  • Provide market and customer insights to support the development and enhancement of housing finance products and services.
  • Assist in conducting market research to support business and product development initiatives.
  • Assist in the review and updating of Credit policies, procedures, and operational manuals.

4. Documentation & Compliance

  • Ensure all credit files are complete with all necessary KYC and supporting documents as per company policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain an accurate, up-to-date loan portfolio and database, ensuring data integrity for all reports.
  • Assist in preparing compliance reports, fulfilling internal and external audit requirements, and providing data for regulatory submissions.
  • Ensure all approved facilities are handed over to the Credit Administration team with all conditions precedent clearly stated.

5. Process Improvement & Cross-Functional Support

  • Provide support and guidance to junior staff or new officers on credit evaluation procedures and system usage.
  • Identify and report recurring issues or gaps in the application process and suggest improvements to enhance efficiency and risk control.
  • Undertake additional projects and responsibilities as assigned by the Credit Manager or Senior Management.

Qualification Requirements

  • Diploma in Business Administration, Banking and Finance, or a related field with a minimum of one (1) year of relevant work experience; or
  • GCE Advanced Level (A' Level) qualification with a minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in credit analysis, banking, lending operations, or financial services.
