JOB OPPORTUNITY

We are currently looking for an experienced and professional to fill the following post.

 Post 

 Occupational Health & Safety Officer  (1)

 Department

 Occupational Health & Safety Department 

 Remuneration Package

 Between MVR 18,850.00 to MVR 19,950.00

 Retirement pension scheme – 7% of the basic salary will be contributed monthly on behalf of employee to the Retirement pension fund of the Maldives.

 Job Purpose

 To promote a safe work environment and ensure compliance with MPGL's Health & Safety Policy by implementing and maintaining occupational health and safety standards, procedures, and programs across all operations. The OHS Officer is responsible for executing all duties and ensuring effective implementation throughout the organization. 

 Main Responsibilities

 Safety Program Implementation

 - Develop, implement and maintain safety practices and policies including the Health & Safety Action Plan.

 - Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards and recommend necessary improvements.

 Risk Management

 - Develop and review risk assessments in coordination with HOD's and Managers.

 - Prohibit unsafe machinery, equipemnt, or procedures where necessary.

 - Recommend corrective and preventive actions based on risk evaluations.

 Accident investigation & Reporting

 - Investigate all accidents, incidents, and near misses involving staff, contractors, or the public.

 - Maintain and update accident records and registers.

 - Submit mandatory reports to relevant authorities and EXCO and propose measures to prevent recurrence.

 Safery Committee Coordination

 - Conduct quarterly Health & Safety Committee meetings.

 - Document and circulate meeting minutes and ensure implementation of committee decisions.

 - Provide necessary support and guidance to Safety Representatives in each department.

 Health Surveillance & First Aid

 - Ensure annual medical surveillance is conducted for relevant staff and maintain records in coordination with HR.

 - Review and address any health concerns arising from medical checks.

 - Ensure departments are equipped with adequate first-aid kids and trained first-aiders.

 Training & Awareness 

 - Plan and deliver safety training programs ( e.g., induction, fire safety, manual handling, working at height ).

 - Assess training needs and provide refresher sessions accordingly. 

 - Promote a culture of safety through awareness, communication , and example.

 Recordkeeping & Compliance

 - Maintain complete records of inspections, training, health survelliance, and incident investigations.

 - Ensure full compliance with Occupational Health & Safety Policy, procedure and relevant standards. 

 - Monitor and report OHS performance indicators quarterly to the Board Audit Committee

 Educational Qualification

 -  Bachelors’s degree in related field with a minimum of 1 years of experience in Occupational Health & Safety

Or

 - Advance Diploma in related field with a minimum of 3 years of experience in Occupational Health & Safety

Key Competencies 

 - Strong knowledge of health and safety laws and practices.

 - Investigative and risk assessment skills.

 - Effective communication and collaboration.

 - Proficient in safety documentation and reporting.

 - Strong leadership and organizational skills.
