Minimum Requirement:

  • Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized institution
  • Valid medical license to practice in home country or eligible for temporary license in the Maldives
  • Certification in Sports Medicine (preferred)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certified
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working as a Team Doctor or Sports Physician with a professional club or national team
  • Experience in managing acute injuries, sports-related conditions, and emergency care in a football environment
  • Familiarity with anti-doping regulations and WADA compliance
  • Ability to work under pressure and make quick decisions during high-stress situations (e.g., matches)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with players and staff
  • Collaborative and professional attitude within a multidisciplinary team

Responsibilities:

  • Attend where appropriate training sessions and matches.
  • Assess and administer all primary medical care.
  • Establish and instigate an optimal treatment plan.
  • Record and administer all medical substances accordance with UEFA, FIFA and FAM anti-doping procedures and remain up to date with WADA, FIFA Doping policy.
  • Maintain written injury and medical reports and submit all injury reports to Maldives Football Technical Director within 3 days of squad session.
  • Maintain medical history, vaccination history and emergency contact details.
  • Advice on the dietary requirements of the squad to any appropriate party such as accommodation providers and to ensure the quality of food provided is consistent with the team's requirements to ensure the safety of food provided at accommodation venues.
  • Liaise with and ensure appropriate feedback and contact with parents regarding medical issues.
  • The Doctor will accompany any injured player to the hospital and report outcomes to Head Coach and Team Manager as soon as practically possible.
  • In conjunction with the team manager assist with any drug testing requirements.
  • Carry medications appropriate to touring locations in addition to medications for common ailments such has colds, coughs, etc.
  • Advise the national team’s manager/administrator and the team manager on the health and performance implications of travel and accommodation arrangements.
