Vacancy: Business Development Manager, Maldives International Financial Services Authority

Maldives International Financial Services Authority (MIFSA) was established by the President on the 21st of January 2024. The purpose of MIFSA is to modernize the financial system regulatory framework to create an enabling environment for the establishment of a vibrant financial sector in the Maldives.

The mandate of the MIFSA are;

  1. To formulate the legal framework for the provision of offshore/onshore financial services under the Special Economic Zone Act (law no: 21/2014).
  2. To formulate and establish a framework for the establishment of offshore/onshore development bank and international financial services centers under the Special Economic Zone Act (law no: 21/2014)
  3. To conduct research focused on finding modern solutions to overcome legal, institutional, and procedural impediments for the development and competitiveness in the financial sector.
  4. To conduct research focused on identifying legal, institutional, and procedural impediments on modernization, development, competitiveness among financial services firms operating in the Maldives.

Job Description

Successful candidate will be responsible to develop and execute business development and marketing programs for MIFSA. This role is responsible for to acquire new clients and building stakeholder relationship.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic direction with regard to all marketing, business development and communications activities and stakeholder engagement.
  • Develop the marketing and Business Development components for business plan
  • Closely work with research team to analyze market opportunities.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external parties and coordinate with stakeholders in the planning and execution of events, conferences, and symposiums
  • Provide secretarial services to the Board of Directors and Standing Committees
  • Ensure the MIFSA’s operations comply with statutory, regulatory, and corporate governance requirements.
  • Prepare policies and procedures for MIFSA’s functional areas
  • Assist to develop and implement business processes
  • Coordinate and arrange internal and external meetings.
  • Provide support to manage international cooperation.
  • Engage in budget planning process, maintain budget and track records of expenditure for business development and marketing function.
  • Provide administrative support when necessary
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned by the CEO

Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in the field of Business, Management, Business Administration, Human Resource, Information Technology, Project Management, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; and
  • A Masters Degree in a relevant field

Experience:

  • A Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a financial institution, independent institution, government, international organization or any other relevant private organization;
  • A Minimum of 2 years’ experience at senior management position or demonstrated leadership qualities.

Desired Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Familiarity with State Owned Enterprises, applicable laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Proficient in commonly used office softwares
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English & Divehi
  • Upholds high ethical standards

Salary:

Between 30,000.00 to 40,000.00 depending on qualifications and experience.

Contract Duration:

The contract duration is specified for 1 year starting from commencement date.
