Addressing Concerns About Foreign Teachers Charging High Tuition Fees in Gadhdhoo

In recent years, the Council has received numerous complaints regarding expatriate teachers charging exorbitant tuition fees. Therefore, we are working together with the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Home land to implement special measures targeting foreign teachers operating within the structured education sector.

Such practices contravene established laws, rules, and regulations, jeopardizing the delivery of quality and equitable education to the students of our island.

Teachers who continue to teach take tuition in this manner, setting their own fees and salaries in violation of this directive, will be reported to the relevant authorities. They will face appropriate action under “Regulation on Employment of Foreigners in the Maldives” under Maldives Employment Act and Maldives Immigration Act.
