Referees Director (Full Time)

Job Title:

To lead and oversee the Referees Department.

Job Summary:

Negotiable

Salary:

Degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field or Minimum 10 years of experience in administration or management.  Additional Certification in Sports or Football Management are highly desirable.

Educational Qualification:

  • Proven experience in managing large-scale events & programs.
  • Prior involvement with international football bodies such as FIFA or AFC, or with National Associations and Clubs are preferred.  

Experience:  

  • Implementation of the Referees Committee’s Decisions by carrying out the decisions and policies established by the Referees Committee and ensuring alignment with the Laws of the Game as mandated by FIFA.
  • Oversee the appointment of referees for matches in competitions organized by the FAM, ensuring fair and transparent selection processes.
  • Coordinate with the Referees Committee to manage assignments for local, zonal, and national matches.
  • Collaborate with the FAM administration to oversee all refereeing activities across the Maldives.
  • Develop and implement processes for managing refereeing operations effectively.
  • Monitor and enhance the education and training programs for referees at all levels.
  • Organize seminars, workshops, and certification programs in line with FIFA and AFC standards.
  • Promote continuous development opportunities to raise the standard of refereeing nationwide.
  • Ensure referees adhere to the Laws of the Game and maintain the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.
  • Assist the Referees Committee in addressing disciplinary issues and upholding ethical standards.
  • Support the recruitment and retention of referees, including initiatives to identify and nurture young talent.
  • Implement mentorship programs to guide and develop referees at different stages of their careers.
  • Evaluate referees’ performance during competitions and provide constructive feedback.
  • Maintain records and performance reports for continuous improvement.
  • Act as a liaison between the Referees Committee, referees, and other stakeholders, including FIFA and AFC.
  • Represent the FAM in forums and events related to refereeing at national and international levels.
  • Manage the refereeing department’s budget and ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Oversee administrative tasks, including match reporting, referee payments, and departmental documentation.
  • Liaison with the Competitions Department to compose the annual activities calendar, ensuring the seamless integration of refereeing programs and competitions.
  • Liaison with Stakeholder Institutions and maintain communication with relevant stakeholder institutions, such as schools, clubs, regional associations, and government bodies, to promote and facilitate referee-related programs.
  • Liaison with the Medical Department to ensure referees have access to appropriate medical assistance, including fitness evaluations, injury management, and mental health support.

  • Reports to the General Secretary and collaborates with all department heads.
