Recruiting a Research Assistant for RECOVER Project

 

Background:

 

Project RECOVER (Resilience to Climate Vulnerability and Environmental Risk - with a focus on Small Island Developing States - SIDS) is a partnership between three SIDS (Mauritius, Maldives and Fiji), led by the University of Waterloo, Canada. SIDS are on the frontlines of climate change and need transformational adaptation strategies urgently. The project focuses on enhancing small islands’ capacity to adapt to climate change through more inclusive, and research-informed decision environments. The three SIDS will serve as “hubs of innovation” for scalable and systems-changing climate resilience approaches. The Maldives National University (MNU) is the local partner institution responsible for implementing the project activities in the Maldives.

The project is recruiting a Research Assistant to carry out research activities planned under objective 3 of the project focusing on water metabolism and water security. The candidate will also support project administration work including logistical, procurement and financial assistance.

 

Project Details:

 

Undergraduate Degree in Science, Applied Sciences Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Climate Science, or a related field

Fluency in both written and spoken, Dhivehi and English language

Educational Background and Experience:

This is a full-time post

Additional Requirements:

Work under specific guidance of the MNU project lead and research team and provide assistance to execute project activities including but not necessarily limited to:

Coordinating and providing support for all technical activities implemented under objective 3 on water metabolism and water security

Contribute to research activities including literature reviews, desk reviews, informant interviews, surveys, data collection and analysis

Assist in preparing and presenting research reports and other technical documents as required

Providing administrative, logistical and procurement assistance to the project in liaison with the relevant departments of MNU

Providing assistance to manage and administer project finances

Assisting with the dissemination of the project results

Providing support in managing the project and project reporting

Supporting and assisting other work within the Research Development Office when required
