ELECTRONIC CHART DISPLAY AND INFORMATION SYSTEMS – ECDIS
Course objectives
The knowledge and understanding includes competencies of STCW Code Table A-II, but not limited to:
1.Knowledge of the capability and limitations of ECDIS operations, and all indicated sub-topics
2.Proficiency in operation, interpretation, and analysis of information obtained from ECDIS, and all indicated sub-topics
3.Management of operational procedures, system files and data, and all indicated sub-topics
Course certification
- Meets the requirements of IMO model course 1.27 (Revised 2012)
- Approved by Maldives Transport Authority and meets the requirements relevant to ECDIS as laid down in STCW Reg II/1 & II/2 and Code sections AII/1, AII/2 and AII/3, Tables AII/1, AII/2 and AII/3,
Entry Criteria
The following Certificate holders may be allowed entry for this course
- Officer in charge of a Navigational Watch on ships of 500 gross tonnage or more OR
- Masters and Chief Mates on ships of 3000 gross tonnage or more OR
- Masters and Chief Mates on ships between 500 and 3000 gross tonnage OR
- Masters and *OOW of ships less than 500 gross tonnage AND
- Have completed Radar Navigation at Operational Level (RADAR/ARPA)
- Have at least 3 months of bridge watch keeping service
- Have considerable familiarization with personal computing operation systems, keyboards and mice or trackballs
