Regarding the Approval of Utility Service System Designs of Resorts

The designs of Utility Service systems including water and sewerage, electricity and waste management systems are required to be approved by this Authority, under Act No. 8/2020 (Water and Sewerage Act), Act No. 18/2020 (Maldives Energy Act), and Act No. 24/2020 (Waste Management Act) implemented by this Authority.

Therefore, it is hereby notified that after 01 February 2023, design reports for water, sewerage, electricity and waste management systems for newly established resorts must be submitted to URA for approval. Resorts that have not prepared design reports for existing water and sewerage, electricity and waste management systems must submit the design reports to this Authority, within six months (by 22 July 2023).

The resorts that violate the above regulatory directive will face legal action, in compliance with the laws and regulations enforced by URA.
