Job Responsibilities

  • Assist in coordinating, arranging and timely follow up Oil Major Vetting Inspections as directed by the General Manager and update required records
  • Ensure all OCIMF, Q88 and other vessel information questionnaires, as required by principals, are always maintained up to date, including all certification and vetting status updates, as directed by the General Manager
  • Attend vessels to conduct Marine Inspections and pre-vetting inspections or vetting assistance as directed by the General Manager. Ensure follow up of all deficiencies noted during vessel attendance is recorded and filed in the common drive
  • Assist in the implementation of Company’s Health, Safety, Security, Quality and Environmental Policies including sailing onboard for short voyages for onboard implementation of the HSSEQ System for new vessels
  • Assist in periodical management review of Company HSSEQ system, record findings from the reviews and propose actions if necessary
  • Assist in maintenance and updating of the HSSEQ Management System
  • A member of the internal Marine & HSSEQ audit team
  • Assist in establishing annual ISM & ISPS audit plans, arrange and co-ordinate internal and external audit, take part in audits and follow-up correction actions
  • Assist in the investigation and root cause analysis of accidents, marine casualties and near misses
  • Review Corrective Actions, Preventive Actions and Recommendations from investigation and analysis of accidents, marine casualties and near misses
  • A member of Company Emergency Response Team
  • Assist, arrange and coordinate tabletop exercises and emergency drills
  • Assist in preparation, implementation and maintenance of office and vessel’s contingency plans
  • Liaise with principals regarding safe vessel operations
  • Follow up to closure of all Port State Control observations
  • Maintenance of the Office Library
  • Assist in reviewing all safety-related reports from the vessels and other similar reports from other sources
  • Assist in arranging external safety audits and onboard training by co-coordinating with the appointed audit or training company

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree / Diploma in Nautical Science or equivalent academic certificate AND
  • Master Class 1 (Unlimited) COC

Preferred Requirements

  • Min 8 years Sea time experience as Deck Officers of which min 2 years in command of vessel above 3000 GT (experience in different types of ships such as bulk carrier, oil tanker, general cargo/MPP container ships would be added advantage)
  • Age: below 55 years
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Computer literate and familiar with window applications eg. Word, spread sheet, power point etc.
  • Medical report
  • Police Report
