REQUEST FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST

 

ELECTRO MECHANICAL ENGINEER (Local)

The Government of Maldives (GoM) has received a credit and grant from the International Development Association (IDA) towards the cost of the “Maldives Urban Development and Resilience Project” (MUDRP), and part of the proceeds of this credit is being used towards payments under the contract for the selection of an Electro Mechanical Engineer for the implementation of this project by Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure.

The Electro Mechanical Engineer will provide technical and engineering input  to MWSC for project activities specifically in the establishment of the Hulhumale’ Sewage Treatment Plant, in accordance with the project documents and as per the donor guidelines in collaboration with the project team and stakeholder agencies to ensure all implementation arrangements of projects are carried out smoothly and on time.

The Candidate should possess the following qualifications and experience

  i.   Minimum undergraduate degree related to Electro Mechanical Engineering/ Process Engineering or related field with at least five (5) years of experience in a similar assignment.

  1. Must have professional work experience of at least five (05) years with minimum three (3) years’ experience in designing and implementing water and sanitation projects.
  2. Previous work experience in donor funded projects would be an added advantage.
  3. Should possess sound knowledge of computer aided design software/applications;

 v.   Should have strong command over English language with proven communication, presentation and negotiation skills in discussing and resolving difficult issues and have the ability to work efficiently and effectively with a multidisciplinary team.

  1. The successful individual must be willing to work for extended periods without direct supervision and travel routinely to project site.
  2. In addition, the individual’s reputation of integrity and impartiality routed in independent from third parties shall be considered.
  3. The short-listed candidate will be requested to participate in personal interviews and submit the names and contact details of personal referees who can attest to their ability.
  4. The successful candidate must understand the objectives and delivery mechanisms of the project’s portfolio. He/she must be willing to work in a team, be flexible to emerging or changing conditions, and undertake initiative in his/her broad field of actions.

 

The Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, now invites interested eligible individuals to submit their Expressions of Interest (EoI). Interested candidates must provide a CV including information that demonstrates that they are qualified to perform the services (description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills, etc.)

The individual will be selected based on the qualification and experience, in accordance with the procedures set out in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants under IBRD loans and IDA credits and grants by World Bank Borrowers, of July 2016, Revised November 2017 and August 2018.

Successful candidate will be paid an all-inclusive monthly remuneration between MVR 19,800.00 to MVR 22,770.00 based on the education qualification and experience

The services are required for a period of 2 years with a potential extension based on performance and need, which includes an initial probationary period of 3 months.
