Call for Applications: Training for Arbitrators

The Maldives International Arbitration Centre (MIAC) is delighted to announce the opportunity for five (5) participants from the Maldives to take part in a 4-day advanced training for arbitrators to be conducted by the Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) of the US Department of Commerce.

The training will take place from 10th -14th March 2020 in Bahrain.

The training will focus on arbitration skills and the participants will get the opportunity to work with experienced arbitrators to arbitrate in the Vis-Middle East Pre-Moot that is held ahead of the annual Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot.

Applications will be reviewed by MIAC and CLDP and successful applicants will be finally determined by CLDP.

Eligibility

Candidates should demonstrate knowledge and experience with international arbitration and as a minimum should meet the following requirements:

  • Successfully completed a CIArb Membership course or an advanced training in arbitration; OR
  • Have been involved in an international arbitration as counsel or local counsel.

Documents to be submitted

  1. A personal statement which should explain why you are interested to take part in the training and your experience in arbitration
  2. A copy of the applicant’s CV
  3. A copy of the applicant’s National Identity Card
  4. Attested copy of academic certificates
