The Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture is seeking for a candidate for the following post.

Basic Salary

MVR 11,065.00 per month

 

Service Allowance

MVR 3,500.00 per month

 

Special Duty Allowance

MVR 3,872.75 per month

 

Food Allowance

MVR 3,600.00per month

 

Risk Allowance

MVR 100.00 will be paid for days which include high risk works (works with direct contact with animals.)       

 

Accommodation

Accommodation will be provided

1 year from the signed date of the contract.

Academic Qualification and Experience

The following qualifications are minimum standard for recruitment:

  • First degree in Veterinary Medicine/  Animal Science
  • At least 3 years of demonstrated experience in field

SPECIALIST SERVICES - VETERINARIAN

 Terms of Reference

  • Establish an Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory for carrying out routine diagnostic tests.
  • Training of quarantine officer and inspect the shipments that come into the country.
  • Visit and train farmers on the good agricultural practices related to farming and biosecurity measures. In addition conduct mobile veterinary clinics in the farms around the country.
  • Arrange international transport of samples to reference laboratories for diagnosis and confirmation of animal disease by prescribed tests.
  • Provide technical input and assist in issuing international certificate for exporting animals and birds.
  • Provide technical input into carrying out risk analysis and evaluation of Animal health section.
  • Facilitate in participation of Maldives in FAO, OIE, GF-TADs sponsored animal health activities.
  • Conduct training of laboratory personnel and prepare a laboratory manual for trainees.
  • Prepare draft of standards for transitional facility of pet animals, birds, ornamental fish and marine invertebrates.
  • Develop surveillance and reporting system for zoonotic and animal disease in accordance with OIE guidelines.
  • Liaise with Environment ministry and Health Ministry on technical matters relating to research, approvals and complaints.
  • Provide advice and clarification on queries relating to animal health activities.
