ENFORCEMENT ACTION AGAINST LEASEHOLDERS FOR NON-PAYMENT OF RENT AND FINES IN RESPECT OF PROPERTIES LEASED FOR TOURISM PURPOSES

Pursuant to Law No. 2/99 (Tourism Act of the Maldives) and the regulations made thereunder, the Government has decided to initiate enforcement action against tourism leaseholders who have defaulted on the payment of rent and accumulated penalties payable under their respective lease agreements.

This enforcement action applies to all leaseholders of tourism properties that are either currently in active operation, or have ceased or suspended operations without obtaining prior authorization from the Ministry.

Accordingly, all such tourism leaseholders are hereby notified and instructed to forthwith settle and clear all outstanding rent, fines, and penalty payments owed to the State, strictly in accordance with the terms, conditions, and covenants stipulated in their lease agreements.
