Introduction:
The National Centre for the Arts (NCA) invites interested local parties to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) for the above-mentioned project aimed at advancing the Maldives Creative Economy and Intellectual Property Rights in the Maldives:
a) This Program designed to empower music creators (authors / lyricists / songwriters) and start-up enterprises in the music industry to effectively use copyright in developing, promoting and earning from music products, thereby enhancing their understanding and use of Intellectual Property (IP) in the Maldives Creative Economy.
Key Details:
a) This Program is in collaboration with World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) of the Republic of Korea (ROK) and Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MoEDT).
b) The Program will be conducted by WIPO, in cooperation with the MCST of the Republic of Korea, and with the assistance of the Korea Copyright Commission (KCC) from March 24 to 26, 2025, in Seoul, Republic of Korea. The program is funded by WIPO, including airfare, accommodation, and transportation for one music creator.
c) The Mentorship Program offers tailored practical knowledge and useful information for music creators (authors / lyricists / songwriters) and start-up enterprises in the music industry, to be provided by Korean experts and industry practitioners who have effectively used copyright in developing, promoting and earning from music products.
d) After the sessions in Seoul, participants will continue to interact with their mentors through online follow-up sessions up to June 2025.
e) The Program encourages young artists in the field to join the Program to prepare the next generation of music creators.
f) This initiative aims to build intellectual property assets in the music industry and improve the sustainable capacity within the country to support local brands, ensuring they are recognized, protected, and celebrated on national and international stages.
g) Any entity that has not submitted an Expression of Interest shall also be allowed to participate in any subsequent submission processes that may be announced by the NCA according to terms and conditions that may be specified thereof.
Submission requirements of the Portfolio:
The EOI submitted shall consist of the following:
a. Contact Details: Name, address, telephone number, email address of the applicant
b. Entity/Individual Information: Details of the individual, individual firm, or company.
c. Primary Contact: Contact person with designation
d. Relevant Experience: Brief background/portfolio of previous creative projects/businesses undertaken.
