General Secretary (Full Time)

Job Title:

To assist the top management in managerial aspects of Football Association of Maldives.

Job Summary:

Negotiable

Salary:

An Advance Degree in Business Administration, Management, Governance, Law or a related field. Additional Certification in Sports or Football Management are highly desirable.

Educational Qualification:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in administration or management. Experience in Sports Management or related fields are highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in managing large-scale events & programs, including budget management & strategic planning.
  • Prior involvement with international football bodies such as FIFA or AFC, or with National Associations and Clubs are preferred.  

Experience:

  • Exceptional leadership abilities, capable of managing multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Strong negotiation & diplomacy skills, essential for interacting with external stakeholders such as sponsors, government bodies, & international football organizations.
  • Proficiency in English and local languages for effective communication with diverse football communities in the Maldives.

Leadership & Communication skills:

  • Strong adherence to the principles of good governance, transparency & accountability.
  • Ability to manage conflicts of interest and maintain integrity in all decision-making processes.

Ethical Standards:

  • Strategic Implementation:

The General Secretary is tasked with executing the strategic goals set by the Congress and Executive Committee. This involves working on long-term football development plans, focusing on areas like grassroots development, youth football, women’s football & referee education.

  • Administrative Operations:

Oversees the daily operations of FAM, including the coordination of departments, divisions, and sections. This ensures that all operations align with FIFA and AFC statutes and policies.

  • International Representation:

Acts as the official representative of FAM in meetings with FIFA, AFC and other international football bodies. Maintains relationships with these organizations to secure funding, technical assistance, and other resources.

  • Stakeholder Engagement:

Engages with the government agencies, sponsors and local football clubs. Ensures that the needs of all stakeholders are reflected in FAM’s plans and that collaboration efforts are streamlined.

  • Human Resource Management:

Oversees staff appointments, training and performance evaluations. Ensures that employees are equipped with the necessary skills to fulfill their roles effectively.

Mandate:

  • Reports to the President and the Executive Committee:

Regularly updates the Executive Committee on the implementation of decisions, financial management, and key operational matters. Provides detailed reports for each committee meeting and the annual congress.

Reporting Line:

 

  • Ensures that all divisions within FAM are functioning efficiently. Holds division heads accountable for meeting their respective objectives and KPIs.

  • Attested copy of academic Certificates & Transcripts
