- Sample collectors must have 2 year medical technology diploma, or equivalent
- 2-4 years of recent phlebotomy
- 0-1 year experience in a basic laboratory setting
- Clinical experience; preferably in a CRO or Pharmaceutical setting, would be an asset

Enumerators will work with Research Project: Methylenetetrahydrofolate Reductase (MTHFR) Gene C677T Polymorphism and Its Association with Folate, Homocysteine, Anaemia, Menstrual cycle patterns, Outcomes of pregnancy, And Risk of Cardiovascular Disease in Females Are responsible for a wide range of tasks, which can include:
- Safely and efficiently collect blood samples from study participants
- Participate in the selection of participant screening process and or required during the conduct of the study. Duties may include but are not limited to:
- Procurement of blood samples
- Processing of blood samples as per protocol requirements
- Documenting and packaging of study samples for shipment to the appropriate clinical diagnostic or analytical laboratory
- Obtaining the subject's height, weight and blood pressure.
- Study related tasks such as subject assembly, check in procedures, property room, etc.
- Preparation of study related materials, such as labelling of study tubes, preparation of clipboards, ensuring laboratory is prepared with supplies required
- Review study documents for completeness and accuracy and ensure all corrections are followed up with promptly
- Confidentiality must be maintained when collecting samples.
- Sample collection should be correlated with Data from surveys or questionnaires recorded on paper forms or computer tablets for statistical analysis.
- Identifying potential respondents via telephone surveys to gauge interest in taking part in a study
- Explaining study procedures to participants to ensure they understand the procedure
- Following the event, participants were interviewed and their blood sample collections.
- The sampling frame for the study will be the women of reproductive age associated with the 8 different higher education institutions in the country including the campuses in the atolls.
Specimen Collection for this research will be : 8 milliliters of blood will be withdrawn from each participant with aseptic venipuncture. They were aliquoted into 3 tubes:
1. Three ml of blood aliquoted into a sterile EDTA vacutainer tube for genomic DNA extraction, blood samples were stored at -80˚C when DNA extraction was not done immediately after sampling.
2. Suitable Specimens for Biochemical markers: Three ml of blood aliquoted into a sterile serum tube, by standard venipuncture techniques into plastic tubes with or without gel barriers. Ensure complete clot formation has taken place prior to centrifugation.
3. Three ml of blood aliquoted into an EDTA tube for measuring hemoglobin.
