Consultancy for Project Director / Civil Engineer for Hithadhoo Hospital Project

The Government of the Republic of Maldives has received a loan from the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) and The OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) and intends to apply part of the proceeds to eligible payments under the contract for hiring a Project Director/Civil Engineer for the Project.

The Advertisement No. (IUL)138-ES2/1/2014/143 dated 21 August 2014  have been cancelled due to the lack of substantial responses hence Expression of Interest (EOI) is invited for the second time.

OBJECTIVES

The objective of this consultancy is to undertake and oversee all management and implementation activities which would contribute towards achieving efficient and effective implementation and management of the S.Hithadhoo Hospital project PMU, Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure. This includes but is not limited to the coordination of projects Procurement and assurance of the Construction.

DURATION

The estimated duration of this assignment will be one-year period with possible extension as per the project needs, during which the consultant will work as a contracted staff member of Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure.

SALARY: Negotiable

QUALIFICATION

Project Director/Civil Engineer should:

1. Hold a Master Degree or higher in Project Management or Civil / Structural Engineering
2. If applicant possess a Masters or higher degree in Project Management they should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
3. Have minimum 5 years’ experience in the field of construction or structural engineering and at least 1 year experience in project management.
4. Familiarity with procurement guidelines of SFD and OFID or other donor funded projects
5. Should be available on a full-time basis for the duration of the contract
6. Possess good command of English language
7. Must have good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) programs

The contracted staff should also have the following professional competencies.

• Ability to interact with senior government officials and members of the public
• Ability to promote stakeholder participation and commitment for effective implementation of the project
