As part of the on-going SWITCH, Asia project on the Prevention of Marine Litter in the Lakshadweep Sea (PROMISE) financed by the European Union, the Maldives National University (MNU) is looking to employ a Senior Administrative Officer.

 

The PROMISE project seeks to promote source-to-sea solutions to reduce marine littering in tourism clusters along the Lakshadweep shorelines of the Maldives, Sri Lanka, and India. It focuses explicitly on Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) in and contributing to the tourism sector to support them in waste minimization, thus enhancing the attractiveness of tourism industries, avoiding further deterioration of marine ecosystems, and improving people's living conditions.

 

The project is implemented in the Maldives, Sri Lanka, and India. The project consortium is led by MNU and in collaboration with Parley Maldives, the National Cleaner Production Centre Sri Lanka, The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) India, Stenum Asia, and Adelphi Research. Project Objectives

The overall objective of the PROMISE project is to contribute to the prevention and leakage of wastes from land-based sources into the Lakshadweep Sea in line with Sip-sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP), thus enhancing the attractiveness of tourism industries, avoiding further deterioration of marine ecosystems and improving living conditions in the Maldives, Sri Lanka, and India. More specifically, the action seeks to promote regionally integrated source-to-sea solutions to reduce marine littering in tourism clusters along the Lakshadweep shorelines of the Maldives, Sri Lanka and India. The Project Manager will support the successful implementation of the project in order to meet these objectives.

 

 

 

Project Details:

 

Holds a Bachelor’s Degree (Level 7) in a relevant field.

Work experience in implementing or managing local or donor funded projects

 

Educational Background and Experience:

  • Facilitate administrative assistance of all research activities related to the project.
  • Provide administrative assistance to the Project Manager in implementing project activities.
  • Act as a help desk where collaboration is necessary to communicate new processes or other tools which will facilitate research administration and promote compliance with requirements and institutional policies and procedures.
  • Review the fund balances and completion dates of the project.
  • Validate expenditures for compliance with the EU policies.
  • Promote good record retention practices to facilitate ease of access and compliance with all regulatory policies for retention of documents of the grants projects.
  • Assist with resolution of fund over-expenditures, filing of financial reports, and other relevant information related to research activities.
  • Remind of reporting deadlines to ensure smooth research activities.
  • Organize all necessary travel and logistical arrangements for fieldwork and other project-related activities
  • Assist with the correction of unqualified expenditures charged to grants or other research funds.

Assist with other administrative work in the section whenever required.
