The Government of Republic of Maldives represented by Ministry of Environment (MoEnv) has received financing from UNEP and intends to apply portion of the financing for eligible payments under the contract for the project “Enabling Activities for HFC Phase down.” The Ministry of Environment is hiring, a company, agency or individual to produce two awareness videos on the achievements on HCFC  Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) and impacts of HFCs on the Environment. The Ministry now invites sealed bids from eligible and qualified bidders for this project.

Background

Kigali Amendment (KA) to Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer was adopted by signatories to the Protocol at the 28th Meeting of Parties in 2016 in Kigali, Rwanda. HFCs are man-made chemicals that are widely used in air-conditioning, refrigeration and foam insulation. They are powerful greenhouse gases, more potent than carbon dioxide and contribute significantly to climate change. The Kigali Amendment to Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer (KA) was adopted by signatories to the Protocol at the 28th Meeting of Parties in 2016 in Kigali, Rwanda.

KA proposes to phase down the production and usage of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) by mid-2040 and offers an opportunity to countries for flexibility in doing so according to the principle of common but differentiated responsibilities.

KA is therefore a significant milestone in the international environmental protection as its achievement could help to reduce the global temperature rise by 0.5 degree Celsius by the year 2100.

Bid Validity and Bid Opening

Bids shall be valid for a period of 90 calendar days from the date of bid opening and shall be submitted to the Ministry of Environment at the address given below, before 10:00 AM Maldivian Time on 23rd August 2020. Late bids will be rejected.

The bids will be opened at 10:00AM on 23^rd August 2020 in the presence of the bidders or their representatives, who wish to attend the bid opening.
