The Government of the Republic of Maldives has received grant funds under the multi-donor Strategic Climate Fund, administered by the World Bank, towards the cost of Accelerating Sustainable Private Investment in Renewable Energy (ASPIRE) Project and intends to apply part of the proceeds of this grant to eligible payments under the contract for “Owners Engineer – Technical & advisory support to the GoM in the implementation of Accelerating Renewable Energy Integration and Sustainable Energy (ARISE) project”

 

The ARISE project aims to broaden the scope of the WB’s ongoing ASPIRE project in Maldives and will be managed by the same PMU established for the implementation of ASPIRE project.

 

The overall objective of this assignment is planning, design and deployment of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and Energy Management System (EMS), and complementary grid upgrading that is required to ensure successful integration and operation of the specified solar PV capacities for the selected islands (specified in Section B of ToR), in a safe, reliable, efficient and sustainable manner over the short and long-terms.

The Ministry of Finance (MoF) on behalf of The Ministry of Environment extend the submission of Expressions of Interest (EoI) for the subjected project (Invitation Ref No. (IUL)13-K/13/2020/69) to 1400 Hours of April 2nd, 2020 and invites eligible consulting firms to submit their Expressions of Interest (EoI). Interested firms must provide information demonstrating the competency to perform the services (description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills, etc.) detailed in the ToR and shall meet the minimum qualifications listed in ToR.

Firms may associate with other firms in the form of a joint venture or a sub-consultancy to enhance their qualifications.

 

A firm will be selected in accordance with the CQS selection method set out in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits and Grants by World Bank Borrowers dated January 2011, Revised July 2014.
