Job vacancy for the post of General Secretary

 

Responsibilities: The General Secretary shall be responsible for the safekeeping of all books, records, correspondence and

other documents pertaining to the affairs of the Federation, other than those required to be kept by the Treasurer.

He or she shall perform those duties incidental to the offices of a recording Secretary, a corresponding Secretary and a

general Secretary. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, the Secretary shall:


a) Circulate agendas for all the Executive Committee (EXCO) meetings, General Meetings (GM) prior to the notice

date specified by the Constitution and should be present at the meeting and record the Minutes.

b) After the Minutes have been approved by the EXCO / GM, a scan copy of the Minutes to be save in the

computer in the Minute Folder as a file under a relevant name; 

c) Preserve the original Minutes, and as corrected and certified, in a separate file.
d) Conduct all routine correspondence on behalf of the Federation.
e) Refer any matter arising from any correspondence and which requires the consideration of the General Meeting of

Maldives Chess Federation (MCF), or of the EXCO, or of the President, to the President.

f) Refer any matter arising from correspondence and which requires the consideration of any other Officer, or

Committee, to such Officer or Committee;

g) Conduct correspondence with members of the general public generally, pertaining to membership in the Federation.
h) Accumulate, file or record all information which comes to his knowledge through persons or Officers of any Club,

or other Organization, or through any publication, which might be of interest to chess players generally.

i) Maintaining records of chess events and other documents of the Federation.

j) Furnish information to the press in his discretion on matters of fact; provided however, that the Secretary shall

not give out any information on a matter which has to go before the EXCO, without the consent of the

EXCO, or on any matter which involves the opinion or policy of the Federation, without the consent of

the President.

k) Safeguard at all times and in every respect the interests of the Federation and ensure its legal representation.

l) Act as the general administrator of the Federation, including managing and directing operations and

m) The Secretary shall perform any other duties in connection with his office, whenever requested by the President

and EXCO members.

 

Qualifications: The successful candidate will possess strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, and must

be able to work well under pressure and deadlines. A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Sports

Administration or General Administration. Experience in Managing sports Association or nonprofit organization would an

added advantage.

 

Salary: MVR 7000.00. Officer allowance will be given for the tasks to be performed during the events or tournaments

organized by MCF.
