Request for Expressions of Interest

Technical Support for the Design of Eco-tourism Facility at Gn. Fuvahmulah.

The Government of the Republic of Maldives through the Ministry of Environment and Energy (MEE) is implementing Climate Change Adaptation Project (CCAP) administered by the World Bank, and intends to apply part of the proceeds of this project to payments under the contract for the services of Technical Support for the Design of Eco-tourism Facility at Gn. Fuvahmulah.

The design of the eco-tourism infrastructure will ensure congruence with existing land use plan and the wetland and eco-tourism plan based on community and stakeholder consultation. The work involves:

  • Developing the most cost-effective design concept for the development of basic infrastructure for eco-tourism (nature trails, observation hide-outs, interpretation centre, visitor convenience services);
  • Developing final designs, with final design drawings, construction details, cross-sections, final quantities, costs, technical specifications for the eco-tourism package;

Key qualifications of the individuals who apply for the position are:

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in Architecture;
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience;
  • Must have excellent AutoCAD and other software skills necessary for 2D and 3D drawings;
  • Experience in designing timber structures;
  • Experience of working in donor-aided projects is desirable;
  • Must be result oriented and proactive. Ability to travel frequently and interact with communities;
  • Good organizational skills and ability to manage targeted indicators;

The Ministry of Environment and Energy now invites interested eligible individuals to submit their Expressions of Interest (EoI). Interested individuals must provide their CV with information demonstrating that they are qualified to perform the services (description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills, etc.) covering the Key Qualifications listed above.

A candidate will be selected in accordance with the procedures set out in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits and Grants by World Bank Borrowers dated January 2011.

The duration of the assignment is 56 Days from the commencement of the consultancy.

The expressions of interest must be submitted to the address by (regular mail, emails or fax) not later than 1400 hours on December 17, 2015 and shall be available to commence the services no later than January 2016.
