Background

 

The President set up the company per the authority vested under Section 15 of the Companies Act (7/2023). The announcement was made by the President in the decree (Decree No. 03/2024).

 

The company was founded with the primary objective of expanding the nation’s fishing industry, and enhancing its social benefits by promoting and advertising Maldivian products on the global market. This includes products from aquaculture, mariculture, and all marine sources. To boost revenue, the company will launch a distinctive brand for local fisheries, advertising it locally and in various lucrative international markets.

Educational Background and Experience:

  • Minimum undergraduate degree in Business Management, Accounting or Finance with Five (5) years of work experience in procurement OR minimum Fifteen (15) years work experience in procurement management or a related position is preferred.
  • Minimum Five (5) years’ experience in a donor funded project and/or State-Owned Enterprise and/or government institution will be an added advantage.
  • Sound understanding of principles underlying international best practices in procurement and GOM’s laws and regulations governing public procurement.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement procurement policies and strategies that are innovative and cost effective.
  • Identify potential suppliers based on project requirements
  • Negotiate contracts, terms and deadlines with vendors and suppliers.
  • Monitor and update relevant departments regarding price fluctuations of goods and vendor pricing.
  • Manage an efficient flow of goods to ensure optimum production
  • Process purchase orders to acquire goods
  • Anticipating unfavorable events through data analysis and prepare control strategies
  • Control spend and build a culture of long-term saving on procurement costs
  • Ensure procurement activities are conducted in compliance with company policies and relevant laws and regulations of Maldives.
