Senior Executive Associate, Quality Assurance Review

 

BACKGROUND

CA Maldives is the statutory body mandated with regulating and developing the accounting profession of the Maldives. The institute is also mandated with developing accounting and auditing standards applicable for private sector and issuing license to provide audit and assurance services in the Maldives. The Institute was established on 8th September 2020, following the ratification of the Maldives Chartered Accountants Act (13/2020), by the President.

QUALITY ASSURANCE REVIEW

Pursuant to the Regulation for Statutory Audit and Assurance Services in the Maldives (Regulation Number: 2021/R-3) the Institute is mandated with carrying out the audit quality assurance review, ensuring the licensed auditors are compliant with the requirements of the Act and Regulation, International Standards on Auditing (ISAs), as well as with other statutory and regulatory requirements.

The Quality Assurance Review (QAR) function is established to implement this mandate by ensuring and upholding the quality of the audit and other services provided by licensed auditors in the Maldives.

The Institute is looking for an individual who will be responsible for providing the necessary support to the Quality Assurance Review function.

SCOPE OF WORK

  • Provide administrative and technical support required to establish the QAR Function
  • Lead a quality assurance review team under the supervision and direction from QAR Manager
  • Prepare Annual Plan for QAR function as directed by QAR Manager
  • Prepare standard working paper templates, other templates and formats to be used in QAR engagements as directed by QAR Manager
  • Review Quality Assurance Review (QAR) plans of licensed auditors selected for review, ensure sufficient and appropriate review procedures are performed in accordance with the review plan.
  • Finalise draft review findings to be approved by the QAR Manager.
  • Draft review reports to be approved by the QAR Manager.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the QAR Manager.
  • As directed by QAR Manager, work closely with chairs of relevant committees and management to ensure that QAR work plans are executed as planned.
  • As directed by QAR Manager, coordinate with chairs of relevant committees to prepare recommendation papers and relevant documents for council endorsement.
  • As assigned by QAR Manager, follow-up on important tasks assigned by committees and coordinate with relevant personnel to ensure tasks are well executed.
  • General Administrative duties as required by the management including but not limited to organizing committee meetings, attending emails, queries regarding QAR and coordinate them with relevant personnel.  

DESIRED SKILLS, CHARACTERISTICS AND COMPETENCIES

  • A keen interest, genuine passion for, and deep personal commitment to the mission of CA Maldives
  • Experience and thorough understanding of audit processes and procedures
  • The ability to work and lead a team effectively
  • Should possess excellent administrative skills
  • The ability to work effectively with the Council and Committees
  • Excellent communication skill in English and Dhivehi (written and verbal)
  • An interest to build a career in the accountancy profession.

IDEAL QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Academic and Experience:
  • Degree or MNQF Level 7/8 qualification in relevant field with minimum 2 years of experience in the relevant field, (OR)
  •  Advanced Diploma or MNQF Level 6 qualification in a relevant field with minimum 6 years of experience in relevant field (OR)

Other required skills and expertise:

  • Must be familiar with accounting and auditing standards such as IFRS, ISA’s
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Willingness and Flexibility to travel on projects carried out by the Institute
  • Preference will be given to those candidates who are partly or fully qualified in a professional accounting qualification or equivalent.
  • Experience in the field of Auditing will be an added advantage.

COMPENSATION

  • Remuneration: MVR 15,500 - 19,000 per month
