International Partnerships Officer/Research Fellow

Full-time (6 hours) (5 days a week)

Working Hours:

Fixed term for 3 years (July 2023-June 2026)

Contract Duration:

Bachelor’s Degree (MNQF Level 7) or higher certificate in the field of Environmental Management or a Related Field.

When shortlisting candidates for interview, priority will be given to candidates who hold a Master’s Degree (MNQF Level 9) in the relevant field.

Qualification:

Candidates who have the following knowledge/skills/ability will be prioritized when selecting a potential candidate.

1. Demonstrated evidence of experience conducting research in diverse atolls in the Maldives
2. Willingness to travel within the Maldives and to spend extended periods of time working in any of the 17 atolls as directed by the research team.
3. Demonstrated experience brokering and managing partnerships between different stakeholders in the Maldives
4. Demonstrated expertise in quantitative and qualitative research methods in the social sciences
5. Previous experience with the use of data collection tools, preferably KoboToolbox and Qualtrics.
6. Excellent interpersonal and both written and oral communication skills in English and Divehi
7. Ability to work cooperatively and positively in an international team environment
8. Demonstrated excellent organizational skills to: organize field trips, arrange meetings with local authorities and key informants and meet deadlines
9. Demonstrated understanding of research ethics protocols
10. Demonstrated knowledge of climate change adaptation in general and in the Maldives context
11. Demonstrated knowledge of public policy and the workings of the Maldivian decentralized administration (e.g. atoll and island councils)
12. Previous experience with governmental agencies, international institutions, or NGOs
