OPEN CALLS FOR GRANT PROPOSALS

Small Grant Program by Eliminating Persistent Organic Pollutants through Sound Management of Chemicals Project

Upon the ratification of the Stockholm Convention by the Maldivian government, The Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Technology is executing the “Eliminating Persistent Organic Pollutants through Sound Management of Chemicals” project. One objective of the project is to introduce Best Environmental Practices and Best Avaitable Techniques to reduce unintentional release of Persistent Organic Pollutants into the atmosphere from the waste management sector. As such, a grant scheme has been developed to fund local projects to introduce alternatives to hazardous chemicals and products and hazardous waste management in a sustainable manner with the involvement of the public.

A detailed information sheet regarding the grant scheme along with the application form and concept plan template can be downloaded from the attachments section.

The grant scheme will be open to island councils, clubs, NGOs, community-based organizations (CBOs), schools, colleges, and universities. Women lead organizations will be prioritized where applicable.

Deadline for submission of concept plan (template attached) is 14th May 2023, Sunday, 14:00. The documents should be submitted via email to [email protected]. Any queries regarding the grant scheme must be sent by May 7, 2023, by email to [email protected] or by phone at 3018410.

The Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Technology holds the authority to reject any proposals which are incomplete.
