We are currently seeking highly qualified PSYCHIATRIC SOCIAL WORKER to join our team

PURPOSE OF ASSIGNMENT

Background

The ratification of the Child Rights Protection Act in the Maldives was a major milestone towards legally safeguarding children from physical, mental, and emotional harm. Sanctioning of this act brought about positive changes.  Parliament passed the Child Rights Protection Law (19/2019) which expands the roles and responsibilities of different organizations (including the Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services, MoGFSS) liable to protecting the rights of children.

Maldives being one of the South Asian countries most affected by the Covid-19 pandemic; recovery plans incorporate work on various sectors including the social service sector; recovery plans focus on the prevention and addressing of the existing social issues, and in the interim, ensuring the protection of children through services and informative, educational programs.

Justification for hiring a psychiatric social worker

With the new Child Rights Protection Law (19/2019) effective from the year 2019, the roles and responsibilities MoGFSS has broadened. This has presented many challenges to the MoGFSS including the lack of adequate technical support to effectively develop and implement the required social service plans and actions with highest priority being the best interest of the child; a skilled and experienced consultant can provide the needed technical guidance.

Assignment Objectives

1.      Address issues related to social services with special emphasis on child protection; devise a plan of action/care plan using a holistic approach.

2.      Assisting children with behavioral problems and their families by providing them with supportive services (rehabilitation services and psychological skills required for recovery)

3.      Providing technical support and guidance to those working in close proximity with the vulnerable groups (including cases of children and their families reported to the ministry and children under state care).

4.      Providing exposure to experts and conduct training session for staff to help them attain the necessary skills required to handle and assist vulnerable groups, especially children.

Child and Family Protection Services (CFPS)

Travel

The consultant is expected to travel to the field (atoll/island) as per requirement.

Institutional Arrangement

The staff would take part in the weekly case discussion meeting held within the psychosocial unit.

The staff would report to Deputy Director General Rishmee Amir and submit a monthly report of the work done.

Deliverables

1.      Monthly Progress Reports

2.      Final Report after the completion of appointed duration. The report should include

·         Detailed summary of a thorough overview of the work done and the yielded outcomes

·         Identify and recommend areas for further development

Estimated duration of contract and deadline for submission of end product

6 Months

Estimated cost of hiring a Psychiatric Social Worker

Monthly fee (based on submission of progress report and invoice)

MVR   17,500.00

 

Qualifications of the successful individual candidates

The candidates are expected to fulfil the following criteria in terms of the expertise and qualifications:

1.      Master’s degree in social work, with specializations in one of the following areas:

·         Clinical social work

·         Psychiatric social work

·         Child, family and school

2.      Minimum 3 years of working experience

3.      Strong interpersonal skills

4.      Demonstrate expertise in collating information, analysis and report writing

5.      Demonstrate familiarity with computer skills (work, excel and power point).
